Gov Ugwuanyi identifies with labour on war against corruptions .

GOVERNOR Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has asserted that Nigerian’s economy cannot survive without Nigerians coming together to stamp out corruption. Governor Ugwuanyi commended members of various organized labour groups in the state who were at the Government House, Enugu on a solidarity rally in support of the federal government in its war against corruption, adding that the exercise is a worthy course.

In his words, “I am convinced that this exercise is a worthy course, hence, I decided to identify with it by coming to address you personally”.
The governor reiterated his recent directive to local government chairmen to pay arrears of salaries owed to their workers and pledged his administration’s readiness to cooperate with them by giving labour what is due to it always. Governor Ugwuanyi praised workers in the country for their willingness to assist government achieve zero-tolerance to corruption in every facet of the Nigerian economy.
He added that his administration would continue to partner organized labour in the state for better understanding and mutual cooperation, adding that he had set-up a committee to look into the workers welfare in the state.
Earlier in his speech the Chairman of the State Joint Negotiation Council (JNC), Comrade Chukwuma Igbokwe described Governor Ugwuanyi as being workers friendly, adding that the governor marked his 100 days in office by giving out 100 houses to the state civil servants. In his words,
“Now it has dawned on workers of Enugu State that they have a father”
Comrade Igbokwe noted that the rally is to sensitize the Nigerian populace to partner with government on anti-corruption war in Nigeria. Also speaking the Chairman, Nigerian Labour Congress, Enugu State Chapter, Comrade Virginus Nwobodo informed the governor that the organized labour is in the Government House on sensitization campaign against corruption in keeping with the national leadership directive to support President Mohammadu Buhari’s war against corruption. He expressed his union’s resolve to partner state government in fighting corruption, saying that corruption is the major problem facing the country.
The union chairman commended Governor Ugwuanyi for being workers friendly. He noted that before now that labour in the state has lost interest in the affairs of state government.
He said, “We have a governor who will come and stay with us for such a long time and interact with workers of Enugu State.
