EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Nigerien Troops Recovering Dead Soldiers Kidnapped By Boko Haram
The hot topic in the news in the past ten days has been the kidnapping and killings of Nigerian soldiers by Islamist terrorist group, Boko Haram.
Ever since Premium Times reported, last week, that 105 soldiers were missing in a battle against the world’s deadliest terrorist group, there have been denials and counterclaims by the media and Nigerian military authorities.
In the midst of denials by the Nigerian military and reports of quiet burials of dead soldiers, a new video has emerged showing an operation by troops from Niger along with troops from Chad recovering the corpses of dead soldiers from Boko Haram.
Nigeria is leading a multi-national force made up of troops from Chad, Niger, Cameroon, and Nigeria in fighting the war against Boko Haram.
The video, which was exclusively made available to us by Deji Adeyanju is said to be a recent war-front video which shows Nigerien soldiers weeping at the sight of their killed colleagues.
“This is a video of the on-going war against Boko Haram,” Adeyanju, who is a former presidential aide told our reporter. “A cover-up is on-going to the extent of losses our military is suffering in the hands of Boko Haram. This is a recent video. You can see that Nigerien troops supported by troops from Chad are recovering the corpses of their colleagues in the war front.”
A gun battle is on-going in the 2.52 minute video and the images provide a glimpse into the dangers that our troops face in the war front.
Editor’s Note: An earlier version of this story erroneously described the soldiers in the video as Nigerian. They are Nigerien troops. The headline and the story has been updated accordingly.
