#TyrantBuhari: Nigerians Demand Buhari’s Resignation Over Disobeyed Court Orders [TWEETS]
One of the fall-outs of President Muhammdu Buhari’s first presidential media chats is agreement by Nigerians that the country has elected a dictator into office.
Buhari a former military ruler with a record of brutal human rights abuses, had said in the media chat that some political prisoners like former National Security Advisor (NSA), Sambo Dasuki and pro-Biafra campaigner, Nnamdi Kanu do not deserve bail.
Several court orders granting Dasuki and Kanu bail had been disregarded by Buhari’s Secret Police, the Department for State Security Services (DSS) and the two remain in incarceration. The judge presiding over the case brought against Kanu by the state, withdrew from the case due to the government’s disobedience to court orders.
An online petition to US President Barack Obama calling for Buhari’s resignation on Change.org has gathered momentum, meeting its target of 1,000 signatures under 48 hours of being put up.
On Twitter, the hashtag #TyrantBuhari has been trending since yesterday, January 2, 2016. Below are some of the top tweets on the subject.
