EFCC Arrests Diezani Alison-Madueke’s Cousin Who Is CEO Of 3 Oil Companies

The Chief Executive Officer of Mezcor Oil and Gas Limited, Donald Amamgbo, who is a cousin of the former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Amamgbo, who was arrested around 4pm on Thursday, is believed to have been a front for the former minister in several illicit oil deals that took place during her tenure, YNaija reports.

Diezani’s cousin, who’s also the CEO of three other oil companies, was said to have lifted crude oil worth billions of dollars over a period of four years.

During Amamgbo’s arrest, his house in the Wuse 2 area of Abuja was also searched by EFCC operatives, who were reported to have recovered some documents.

Regarding the arrest, a source was quoted by Punch Newspapers to have said: “Donald Chidi Amamgbo is the CEO of Mezcor oil and Gas limited, Tridax Oil and Gas Limited, Lynear Energy Limited and Bulk Strategic Reserved Limited. He was arrested in Lagos on Thursday.”

“Apart from being Diezani’s cousin, he is believed to be her ‘front’. He got approval to lift Nigerian crude oil without any requisite experience. Through his companies, Amamgbo lifted crude oil and gas worth billions of dollars over a period of four years.”

“A search conducted in the office and on the premises of Mezcor Oil and Gas Limited at 5, Sannar Street, Wuse 2, Abuja, yielded documents, which included payments for the purchase of houses and vehicles.”

Only last week, Diezani’s husband, Alison Madueke, was arrested and interrogated by the EFCC for several hours over an alleged $600,000 money laundering.

In the same vein, a close ally of the former minister, Jide Omokore, is also in detention of the anti-graft agency over the lifting of crude oil and inconsistent remittance of payment to the government, by his company, Atlantic Energy Limited.
