A female police officer has been detained for allegedly collecting bribes from a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at unit 28, ward 7 in Ikpoba Okhai LGA of Edo state.

Vanguard reports that the police officer was caught by an agent of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the act and was thereafter arrested by supporters of the party and handed over to the police.

The Female police officer was locked up at Ugbekun police station after her action caused a little tension in the polling booth.

Still on the Edo poll, the PDP has cried out saying the results for nine local government areas in the governorship election in Edo state are already out.

However, the party, which has Osagie Ize-Iyamu as its governorship candidate in the election, said in a statement signed by its national publicity secretary, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, that the results are fake.

The party accused the APC, which has Godwin Obaseki as candidate, of writing the fake results in collusion with the Independent Nationaal Electoral Commission (INEC).

Meanwhile, the APC, PDP, ACP and ACPN agents have so far expressed satisfaction at the on-going governorship elections in Edo state.

The governorship election in Edo has recorded an impressive turnout with voters arriving at polling stations in large numbers across the state.
