3 things President Buhari said about his wife

Behind every successful man they say, is a woman standing behind him. Aisha Buhari is the wife of the current president of Nigeria. During his campaign and after his swearing in, Hajia Aisha has solidly stood by and behind her husband. Every of her move has been to aid the success of her husband as well as uphold a now-reputable family name.

Many may consider President Buhari a straight forward man, sharp shooter that doesn’t play games when it comes to certain issues. With him, what you see is what you get. As president, he has said things about his wife that many worshipers and critics of his administration hammer on.

These are the things President Buhari has said about his wife.

1. No office of first lady

During his days as a presidential candidate, President Buhari stated his clear view on the office of the first lady.

Previous administrations held in high regard, the office of the first lady and so when he stood on opposing grounds regarding the functionality of the office, it got a lot of people talking.

This was the first thing he said about the first lady who after his disapproval of such a title preferred to be called the wife of the president.

Giving his reason, President Buhari said there is no office of the first lady in the Nigerian constitution and there is no official role for presidents’ wives.

2. He said his wife “belongs to the kitchen, living room, other room“

In a recent interview in Germany, President Buhari was asked what he thought of his wife’s comment regarding the way certain appointments were given to “undeserving” individuals who she mentioned did not strife to get them into the villa. He said: “I don’t know what party my wife belongs to, but she belongs to my kitchen, my living room and the other room.”

3. Her job is to take care of him

President Buhari also had this to say about his wife when the world came down hard on him for limiting his wife to her “wifey” duties. In justification, he stood his grounds and said her primary job is to take care of him.
