A family source told Leadership that the duo were abducted on October 3 on their way to Kaduna from Abuja.

According to the sources, the abductors are demanding 10 million ransom to release them.

The driver of Mallam was also shot on his left hand by the gunmen.

The Police command in the state has confirmed the development, Daily Trust says.

ASP Aliyu Usman, the police spokesman, said the former minister and her husband were taken away by the abductors while the driver was spared.

He gave the assurance that all hands are on deck to ensure their release and the committers are brought to face the full draft of the law.

Mr. Usman stated that information gathered is sketchy and will prepare a detailed account of what happened to the media soon.

Wife of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Mrs Margaret Emefiele, was kidnapped on September 29, Thursday, by unknown gunmen and a N100m ransom has been demanded for her release.

However, she has been released by her abductors just 24 hours after the incident. Family sources said Mrs Emefiele was rescued “due to the gallantry of the Armed Forces, Police and Security Forces”, in Ugoneki near Benin City.
